Computer HDMI sockets are delicate

Computer HDMI sockets are delicate - take care!

HDMI ports are delicate, and prone to breaking if handled without care.

1. If your scoreboard computer HDMI port is not cared for it will eventually fail.
- Severe stress can occur on the computer port if:
a. The cable is removed roughly
b. The cable is not protected, ie. Someone walks past & kicks the cable.
c. The PC slips off the table while the cable is plugged in.
- to test your port, wiggle it gently & feel for looseness. It should be a firm fit.
2. Also note that the cable itself should be protected
- See the above example where the the cable has a kink in it.
- To aid the cable signal:
a. Should be short in length (under 3m)
b. Should be a decent quality (not super cheap)

How do I tell if my HDMI port is damaged/broken?
In most cases, your system will be setup with your HDMI device appearing as an extra monitor.

If, after this testing, you decide that your computer port has failed.
1. Replace the PC, or
2. Add a USB-HDMI port (this method may not work for all PCs but is worth a try to save costs)
Can be bought from typical geek shops, ie. Officeworks, Jaycar, JB, etc.
